Mental Map

This is a mental map of the world constructed by an English-speaking American college student. A mental map is one person's perspective of the geographic world based on their personal experiences and knowledge. The American author of this webpage argues that, based on her experiences living in Spain, she feels Americans have less of a sense of boundaries than some other nations because Americans are more patriotic rather than "regionalistic". Based on my experiences living in Kenya, where nationals' loyalties lie with their tribe before their country, I agree with this statement for some cases. This argument can be seen in this map by the not-so-detailed boundaries between countries.
